This afternoon, the Belgian federation of Belgian enterprises honored DuCoop with the Belgian Business Award for the environment. These awards reward small and large companies in Belgium that contribute to sustainable development and combine economic activity and environmental care in an innovative, intelligent way.

Peter De Smet, CEO of the sustainability cooperation DuCoop merited the achievement of the sustainable business award to  ‘a long list of public utility companies and public authorities (City of Ghent and subsidizing agencies (European commission, Flemish government)), financing agencies, project developers, construction enterprises, engineering companies and last but not least the people that bought a house in the sustainable district and are currently living at the Nieuwe Dokken’. Thanks to them, DuCoop was able to demonstrate that a small, innovative company can push the bounderies by creating economically feasible designs to short circuit the flows of energy, water- and resources in climate resilient urban developments.’

Follow a virtual tour to see how DuCoop created decentralised water sanitation, 4th generation district heating and smart energy management in a newly built district in Ghent (Nieuwe Dokken).
